There is a ‘Pass Line’ and ‘Don’t Pass Line’ area, where line bets can be placed. You are only to choose either Pass Line or Don’t Pass line bet. Line bets pay even money if they win. If you believe that the shooter will roll 7 or 11 or a point which will be rolled again before 7 you choose Pass Line bet. If you think that the shooter will roll 2 or 3 on the comeout roll or will roll a 7 after rolling a point number and before rolling this point number again you choose a ‘don’t pass line bet’ area.
Odds on a Line Bet.
If the point number is rolled on the comeout the player is allowed to take true odds against a 7 appearing before the point number is rolled again. You can bet an additional amount up to the amount of your line bet. The additional bet is called odds bet. Odds bets are different in different casinos. In some casinos the odds bet amount is the amount equal to the line bet amount or lower. Some casinos allow making odds bets of two, three or even more times the amount of the line bet. The odds bet is paid at a rate equal to the odds of that point number being made before a 7 is rolled. The area behind a pass line bet is for placing odds bets.
