There exist at least two ways of tipping a Craps dealer.
A Hand-In.
Decide how much chips you want to trip the dealer with and toss this number of chips onm the Craps table and say “For the dealers.”
Bet for the dealers.
You can toke the dealers by placing a wager for them. If the bet you have made for the dealer wins the dealer gets not only tips (the bet) but also the winning amount.
When to tip
It is up to the player to decide when to tip. The player can do it during the game as well as after it. Most dealers probably prefer that you tip as-you-go, because you might bust out and not have any money left at the end of your session to tip with, but this is not to your advantage, of course. The best way out for the payer is to make a bet or 2 bets during the game and then to hand in at the end of your session. The dealers will notice your early bets for them and make sure you get good service, and by delaying future tipping to the end of the session, you can avoid a situation where you tipped heavily during a hot streak and then hit a bad streak, with the dealers winding up with more money than you.

Which bet would you make for yourself? The bet with the lowest house edge. Make the same bet for the dealer.
Wrong bets only decrease the income of the dealers.
